Project Main Objectives:
The project seeks to achieve the following main objectives:
1. Women's Empowerment: Enhance 90 women's knowledge of their legal rights and mechanisms for preventing and responding to gender-based violence, and build peer support networks among them.
2. Child Protection: Raise awareness among 100 children (aged 8-14) in two centers about the concept of physical safety and safe reporting mechanisms for abuse through interactive theater activities.
3. Raising Community Awareness: Changing social perceptions that tolerate violence through the production and dissemination of awareness-raising materials (short films and a guidebook) reaching more than 1,500 individuals in the community.
4. Building the Capacity of Local Institutions: Strengthening the capacities of partner community centers to become a sustainable nucleus for providing support and awareness-raising in areas related to violence prevention.
Main Project Activities:
To achieve these objectives, the project will implement a number of activities, the most important of which are:
1. Specialized Training Sessions for Women:
Advanced training (45 hours) for 60 women at the Birzeit and Jalazoun centers on deeper topics such as the psychological effects of violence and access to legal and psychological services.
Introductory training for 30 women at the new Qalandia Center to provide them with basic concepts of rights and anti-violence.
2. Interactive Theater Workshops for Children: Two workshops will be held at the Birzeit and Jalazoun centers, benefiting 100 children, to teach them skills for recognizing unsafe situations and how to report them safely through drama and play.
3. Joint Awareness Material Production:
Production of two short films with scenarios inspired by local reality.
Development and publication of an illustrated guide on rights and reporting mechanisms, to be distributed through community channels and social media.
Expected Outputs:
1. Direct Outputs:
90 women trained and legally and socially empowered.
100 children better informed about how to protect themselves.
Two short films and one guide as high-quality awareness materials.
3 community centers with enhanced anti-violence capacity.
2. Long-Term Impact:
Contributing to the creation of a supportive and more resilient community environment for survivors of violence.
Reducing the social stigma associated with reporting violence.
Establishing a model that other organizations can replicate in similar areas.
The "Strengthening Resilience" project seeks to build on Caira's previous successes and emphasizes the organization's continued support and empowerment of the most vulnerable groups, especially women and children, in marginalized communities.
